From passage analysis to test layout,
the whole production process as one system

Mode On English is a high school English materials brand that Mode On runs itself. It analyzes passages from Korean national mock exams and EBS textbooks, writes practice questions from that analysis and publishes them as test papers. Instead of doing this by hand each time, the process is tied into one production system.

What I built

Data stored once, many materials out

  • Passage restoration and sentence alignment

Passages are restored from mock exam PDFs and turned into data that pairs each English sentence with its Korean translation.

  • Analysis data

Sentence structure, syntax, the flow of the text and likely test points are stored in one format. Analysis sheets, vocabulary lists and per-question analysis pages all come from this data.

  • Website and AI tutor

Per-question analysis pages are public, and an AI tutor answers students' questions based on the analysis data.

Production standards

Quality standards held by the system, not by memory

  • Standards for each question type

Gap-fill, grammar, sentence order: each type has a written standard, and every question follows it.

  • Designed wrong answers

Using a standard built from analyzing past exams' wrong answers by type, each distractor is given a specific trap.

  • Item bank and automatic layout

Questions are kept in a bank and laid out as PDFs in a real test-paper format.

  • Automatic checks

Format and rules are checked automatically, catching mistakes people easily miss.

How I work

The person who listens is the person who builds

  1. 1

    Listen

I follow the director's and teachers' full day, start to finish.

  2. 2

    Map the flow

Where information starts, and where it stops.

  3. 3

    Find what's stuck

Starting where the most time leaks away.

  4. 4

    Design & build

A system built for your academy, by me.

  5. 5

    Settle in

Teacher training and adjustments until it sticks.

Tell me about your academy's day.

We start by finding where the time goes, together.
